The Write Time: Accountability Group

The Write Time: Accountability Group

“I really did grow as a writer in the most supportive loving way. Very grateful and high hopes in my journey towards completing my first novel.”

When people teach writing, they talk about craft, style, and tone. They talk about punctuating dialogue and building tension. They talk about multi-dimensional characters, sub plots, and satisfying endings, but they don’t talk about project management.

No one talks about how to decide when it’s time for outside readers. How to edit a draft without getting mired in the first three chapters. How to organize your novel in a way so you don’t get lost in your notes.

So that’s what we’re here for. The Write Time accountability group is a place for you to share where you’re at with your project, what you’re stuck on, and what you need to do to keep it moving forward.

“I found the camaraderie combined with the expert, intuitive and sensitive comments by Grace encouraged me to write and to read with a keen eye. I learned a lot as a reader and as a person. Thank you.” – Feedback from Spring 2024 workshop

What You’ll Get

  • Support

    • You’ll be part of a writing cohort, and we’re here to help you finish your project.

    • You’ll meet other writers at similar stages of their writing.

    • You’ll meet other writers facing similar problems, and help each other solve them.

  • Accountability

    • We meet once a month. This means you’ll have five deadlines through-out the session to set for yourself. They could be:

      • A word count you want to get to.

      • A goal, such as starting to query.

      • Or just a frequency or relationship you want to have with your writing.

This workshop was a revelation for me, our discussions changed my writing process such that I finished a strong draft of a story in record time. The community is also incredible, safe, and so engaged.” — Feedback from Fall 2024 workshop

With intentionality and compassion, Grace curated a welcoming and safe space for me to not only rediscover myself as a writer, but she, along with the group, supported me as I revived my writing practice and encourage my inner editor.” – Feedback from Spring 2024 Participant

The Write Time Workshop was a space full of generous, exacting readers who supported and encouraged each other over the course of our time together, creating a real feeling of warmth and surety in submitting sometimes difficult or personal work. Really enjoyed this space guided by Grace and the cohort I found there.” - Feedback from Fall 2024 Participant

Style of Feedback
The group will practice giving and receiving feedback in the style of Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process. This framework emphasizes making observations and asking questions about the author’s intent, rather than projecting our opinions and assumptions onto their work.

My facilitating is based on years of leading writing workshops, my mindfulness meditation training, and the work of Matthew Salesses (Craft in the Real World) and Felicia Rose Chavez’s The Anti-Racist Writing Workshop.

The goal is to empower the author to verbalize their creative choices and write into them, instead of editing their piece based on what someone tells them they “need” to change.

Refund Policy
By the end of the accountability group, if you feel you haven’t made significant progress on your project, I’ll give you a full refund. Why? Because if you haven’t gotten closer to finishing, I haven’t done my job. This group isn’t about me teaching how I structure my writing — it’s about helping you develop your writing process and creating a system to finish a large project. Even if no one has ever asked for a refund, the offer still stands. All you have to do is email me, no questions asked.
