The Write Time: Accountability Group

When people teach writing, they talk about craft, style, and tone. They talk about punctuating dialogue and building tension. They talk about multi-dimensional characters, sub plots, and satisfying endings, but they don’t talk about project management.
No one talks about how to decide when it’s time for outside readers. How to edit a draft without getting mired in the first three chapters. How to organize your novel in a way so you don’t get lost in your notes.
So that’s what we’re here for. The Write Time accountability group is a place for you to share where you’re at with your project, what you’re stuck on, and what you need to do to keep it moving forward.

What You’ll Get
Support
You’ll be part of a writing cohort, and we’re here to help you finish your project.
You’ll meet other writers at similar stages of their writing.
You’ll meet other writers facing similar problems, and help each other solve them.
You’ll have to option to be paired with another writer to share 5,000 words/month and have one-on-one discussions with them in the group.
If you’re joining as an individual writer, you’ll have time to write during these one-on-one check-ins.
Accountability
We meet once a month. This means you’ll have five deadlines through-out the session to set for yourself. They could be:
A word count you want to get to.
A goal, such as starting to query.
Or just a frequency or relationship you want to have with your writing.
Meeting Structure
Meetings will begin with a check-in to share successes and struggles from your writing process
Then we’ll break into time meeting with our writing partners or working on our own.
Depending on the month, we’ll have a discussion on writing organization, craft, submitting or querying.

How it Works
5 x 1.5 hour long meetings
The first meeting will be establishing group guidelines and discussing our intentions for the coming months.
Option to join as a solo writer or be assigned a writing partner within the cohort.
12 writers, maximum
Open to writers of all genres who are working on long-terms projects.
This could be a novel, novella, memoir, essay collection, or poetry chapbook/manuscript
$125 - $175 - $200 sliding-scale tuition

September 15th, October 20th, November 17th, December, 15th, January 12th

Style of Feedback
My facilitating is based on years of leading writing workshops, my mindfulness meditation training, and the work of Matthew Salesses (Craft in the Real World) and Felicia Rose Chavez’s The Anti-Racist Writing Workshop.
The goal is to empower the author to verbalize their creative choices and write into them, instead of choosing a path for their project based on what someone else recommends. It also empowers writers to create a system that’s uniquely theirs, fits into their life, and fuels their creativity.

What genres can I bring?
This workshop is be open to all genres. This includes: short stories, excerpts from a memoir, a novel, or anything related to querying, as well as poetry in all its forms.
Refund Policy
By the end of the accountability group, if you feel you haven’t made significant progress on your project, I’ll give you a full refund. Why? Because if you haven’t gotten closer to finishing, I haven’t done my job. This group isn’t about me teaching how I structure my writing — it’s about helping you develop your writing process and creating a system to finish a large project. Even if no one has ever asked for a refund, the offer still stands. All you have to do is email me, no questions asked.
